What do you want in a firearms review video?

Perhaps I'm showing my age, but I used to buy all the gun rags---even going back to the best of them all, Fat Phil Engeldrum's "Pistolero" and "Handgun Tests". Even then we knew that Guns and Ammo was getting handpicked perfect copies of guns to review, which is why there were no bad reviews.

I frequent a couple of websites pretty regularly---TTAG and The Firearms Blog. TTAG's reviews are pretty good. The reviewers at least show the target they've shot, and mention the pros and cons. TFB, however, is lacking. The last couple of reviews have just been a guy shooting steel with them---with the camera focused on HIM, and him raving about the pistol. That's not a review. I don't want to watch someone shoot steel WHILE NOT SHOWING THE STEEL.

I want the reviewer to tell me what the trigger pull(s) are. I want the reviewer to shoot a variety of ammo, both range and premium, at multiple targets, and show me the accuracy of the firearm. Put the thing on a rest and shoot some five shot groups. Show me what the gun is capable of, not how quickly you can burn up 100 rounds going ping-ping-ping-ping.

A review should reveal some useful info on the gun, not "I like this gun ping ping ping ping". When Hickok45 does his, he at least shows the inherent accuracy by hitting a gong 80 yards away. Watching him do it with a Kahr P380 was pretty impressive.

If you don't have the paper to back it up, it's not real.
I like trigger pull measurement and I like groups on paper targets, nutnfancy at his best.
I think the National Rifleman tests are my favorites in print.
I would like to see Consumer Reports (TM-and they MEAN it) style testing, yeah, I know a sample of one is inadequate but US Army standard testing is not cheap!

I would like to see off the range performances and daily carry nuances.

Negative ghost rider, he's simply demonstrating HIS ability to hit with the gun. With few exceptions, the guns have more intrinsic accuracy that a human is capable of using.

Bob Munden could hit a balloon at 200 yrds with a snub nose revolver, but it's a good bet the majority could not. That others can't hit with a gun only means they need more work on their fundamentals. When someone shoots a rather spread out group at any distance, you can be sure it's not the guns fault.
