    Boy did I learn a lesson.....don't even bother talking to anti-gunners

    I made the mistake of being outside for just a second with my EMPTY holster showing

    So my Neighbor....see's me and say's "You carry a gun?" Yea pops out of my mouth

    without much thought.......he know's i'm disabled...so I thought(mistake)that he would

    understand.

    Well yesterday he trapped me into a gun, anti gun conversation."Oh my god the stupidity of his arguments had me stunned".

    This guy is the President of our community...plus I thought he was intelligent.

    One point was......how good did guns do when Reagen was shot? he was surrounded by armed people? One example that's all he had.

    So I stayed nice and agreed with him on alot of points, just because right now he has the power being president......to make my life more difficult then it is.

    So why do I have a gun he says?......Well I can't fight anymore as you know and my wife had a stalker for a year.......she was terrified. He even used the police.....he would act like someone else and call the cops and they would show up at 1am to see

    if my wife was okay.....saying he feared for her safety..from me. LONG Story....this guy

    was slick.

    So I got my permit and so on.

    My neighbors anwser was "why didn't you just get a restraining order"

    Which we did.......but I only got it so if I had to shoot the son of a it would

    be on record he was breaking the law.

    I ended the conversation saying if someone breaks in to your house and attacks you or

    your wife.......YOu better call me......I will be there way before the police. I could see

    that thought spinning in his head.......he shut up after that. And I nicely said bye and be careful.

    Just never had a disscussion with someone that just could not see with an open mind.

    Are you really surprised? It has been my experience that the kind of person who presides over a HOA is generally a controlling prick.

    There was a video I saw the other day. Woman on the street type video. Dumb woman said she would rather be murdered than defend herself with a gun.

    Some people just have sh** between their ears.

    I have to agree with your neighbor. We all know laws, restraining orders, and signs are all we need to protect ourselves. And we know this because there is no crime in the US.

    I have met many an anti-gunner, usually around my age (early to mid 20's). They are, usually, genuinely ignorant of the subject. I work with one 30-something year old who preaches Obama like it were a religion. He LIKES getting into heated debates with me, someone SIGNIFICANTLY younger than he is. I usually come out on top. He still believes what he believes.

    Long story short, someone people you can educate. Others are a lost cause.

    Dealing with one now myself. Father in law's HOA.


    I allowed myself to get roped into a similar conversation with one of those anti bozos a few weeks ago. (Not the HOA bozo .....a different bozo) It's like arguing with a stop sign. Only a stop sign has more sense.

    Our Pres has a CCWL! I am the Vice Pres (I carry) my Wife is the Treasurer, she just applied for her CCWL! But on majority, I have to agree.

    Working on Roberts Rules, the Pres can not vote (unless as a tie breaker) or propose motions! So where you have a bully as Pres. He is allowed by the wimps on the board to bully them.

    Gavin DeBecker actually writes that restraining orders often do more harm than good as they make the stalker feel less empowered less in control a d more likely to act to regain a sense of strength and control.

    Heard something very similar from my younger sister a number of years ago. She said something to the effect she "could never shoot someone, she'd rather be raped or die." I said, "That's fine if that's the way you feel. Could you shoot someone if they were attacking or raping one of your daughters?" (about 9y/o at the time). She thought about it for a moment or two & replied "In a heartbeat." She still is not "pro-gun", but she hasn't questioned my decision to carry one again...
