Question Scope Recommendations for 200-300yd Shooting

Looking to get a scope for 200-300yd shooting in the <$200 range. Any recommendations for the best quality scope in my price range?

I was looking at the Redfeild Revenge in 4-12x42mm, anyone with personal use of this scope here?

I know you get what you pay for but, this is my scope budget for this build.

It's been a while since i've looked at scopes but i remember the SWFA SS scopes offered a few great options around that price range. (relatively speaking of course)

What caliber are you shooting and wil you shoot in low light at all?

200 yrds would be easy for a straight 4x that's sturdier than a variable power scope. We used German 4x's out to 500 yrds at counter-sniper training.

    *7.62 x 54R

I have a 1-4x24 scope on my AR and seeing a torso sized target at 200 is a bit difficult. Would that scope range be the same as the fixed 4x you mention?

That's a heavy recoiling cartridge. Better buy a scope that can handle the constant jarring.

    Yes it is......

How can I tell if the scope will handle the recoil? Would it say it in the details tab of the scope specs?

I know these are noon questions but, I am a scope noob.

I'd prefer a 4x fixed on that gun myself due to the recoil it generates. A fixed has less moving parts and is much better at taking punishment than a variable. At 200 yrds, even 400, you don't need more than 6x and 4 works just fine at those ranges. Hope that helps

I just got a scope mount for my Mosin and I was about to ask the same question. Thanks for beating me to the punch.
