Post FL Gun Ranges and Clubs

Just thought it'd be nice to have a place to list gun ranges and clubs in FL, for those of us traveling, new to the state, etc.

    Brevard County

Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club
Private club. Recently has become my stomping ground. Public access is granted for public matches, such as IPSC, IDPA, Cowboy Action Shooting, etc.

    Action Gun Outfitters
2787 Aurora Rd, Melbourne, FL 32935
    (321) 242-1114
Gun shop and small indoor range. Must use their ammo.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Range rather small. Up to 50 feet, I believe. Lanes fairly narrow. Reasonable range fees. Commercial reloads they sell are AWFUL, but not horribly expensive (just a couple $ more than WWB from Wally World).

    Titusville Rifle and Pistol Club
No personal experience shooting here, though I know folks who do. I believe it's both a public range and private gun club. They host competition matches, like IDPA and so forth.

    Gunsite Range
Another gun shop with indoor range. Located in Merritt Island. No experience shooting there.

    American Police Hall of Fame
Associated with the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum in Titusville. No experience shooting there.

    Indian River County

Indian River County Public Shooting Range
Outdoor public range run by the county, which is pretty cool. Very reasonable fees. Closest you can shoot on pistol range is 15 yards. Fairly nice facilities, but when I shot there, there was a range safety incident by a group of yahoos doing stuff they shouldn't have been, including leaving an AR15 with a chambered round on the firing line when the range was cold.

I've heard a couple of horror stories about one of the indoor ranges in Titusville or Merritt Island...I can't remember which. Basically, unsafe behavior resulting in some fella putting a couple of holes in his leg, nearly blowing out his knee cap.

I think this is a good idea. I've shot at the Bass Pro Range in Dania Beach, Markham Park, and Arizona Gun and Knife. And I'm not endorsing any one over the other.

    Broward County:

    Markham Park:
Outdoor range located off of Interstate 75. They have 6 to 10 range officers on any given day. These guys are either retired police or armed forces. They ususally try to segregate the pistol shooters and the rifle/shotgun shooters on the various ends of the firing line. They have one gentleman at the center booth on a loud speaker declaring the line either cold or hot. They are very safety oriented, they even check your weapon before they allow you to fire a round. They sell different targets you can use.

    Arizona Gun and Knife:
This is a full service gun and knife shop with a range. They allow you to rent pistols and revolvers. They also have a gunsmith on site. They have a camera system that they watch people on the firing line, therefore no real range officer, per se. Don't have all of their rules and regulations in front of me but it is a nice 10 lane indoor shooting range. You can rent pistols for $8 if you want to try something new. They also sell targets if you don't have your own (i.e. life size bad guys, etc.)

    Bass Pro -- Dania Beach

This is a Bass Pro. The only other store of this kind that I like is Cabela's. They have a 6 lane range that get's pretty busy on weekends. They don't rent out pistols/revolvers but they do offer a complement of targets for you to purchase.

One thing funny that I learned about Broward County and I don't know if this is everywhere, but you are not allowed to shoot at animal (i.e. deer, turkey, etc.) paper targets. Go figure that one. Maybe one of the guys that live down in Miami Dade County can give us an update or info on ranges in that area. I have heard some good things about Trail Glades Range but have not shot there yet. Hope this string continues because we are always looking for a place to shoot when we travel.

    The Second Amendment Club

The Second Amendment Club is an organization made up of men and women who believe in the right of American's to keep and bear arms.

They meet every fourth Monday of the month, except in December, at the Prime Time Restaurant: 11408 U.S. 19 North: Port Richey, FL 34668. Social hour starts at 6:00pm with the regular meeting starting at 7:00pm. Meetings are open to the public and all supporters of the Second Amendment are welcome to attend.

Our club shoots on the second Saturday of the month at our private range at Fairhaven Farms, located in Pasco County, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Fairhaven Farms is located on Route 52, right off the Suncoast Parkway. If you're coming from the west on Route 52, Fairhaven Farms is on your right before the Suncoast Parkway. If you're coming from the east on Route 52, Fairhaven Farms is one your left, just after the Suncoast Parkway. Just enter the gate and follow the parking signs to the range. NOTE: Only club members in good standing are allowed to shoot at the range.
