alright guys, it has been about a month since i mailed my information in etc. been a little less then that since they cashed my check. i have seen some people say that their permit was issued but they hadn't received it yet. how do i find out if my permit has been issued or in the mail? i know it takes longer in the mail, but just curious to see if it has gone through yet. thanks. hope this isn't a dumb question that has been asked somewhere else already! :dunno

Theres a phone number to call and it asks for the number on your app, i kept calling every day up until the day it said they sent it out i believe it got sent out day 3 or 4. I received it on day 8. I also did a appointment though.

8 days after i turned 21 god i love Florida :D

Rusty,
You're gonna want to call the DOA, 1-850-245-5691, You need to talk to a real person first, follow the robots intructions to get to a real person.. After the real person gives you your tracking#, then you can call anytime to track your progress, hope this helps and you dont get tired of the robot voice, LOL..

90 days! :/

soooo... i called and checked my status and the lady said that it would be probably 90 days until i got it and that they havnt even started processing mine yet... it was mailed in over a month ago and my check cleared on the 21st of Feb. anyone else getting this type of response?

she didnt give me a processing number for me to call the automated service, just said they were backed up and they hadnt started on processing mine yet... so im not really sure. i guess ill call again monday and try to get a number so i can check in with the robot... i mailed it in because i thought it would be faster then waiting for a time when i could get an appointment (i teach high school and cant really take off for that) but if i would have known it would take 5 months i would have figured out a different way... guess we will see. ill keep ya posted.

It will probably be there any day now, that "90 days" response is the typical time frame they tell you in the book I think. I know our NRA instructor said that too, I mailed our(wife and I) hers later on. Mine took 10 days from mail to door, hers 14 days. Dont know if it matters, but sent ours certified mail.

how long ago was that? i sent mine standard mail but i know they got it and have at least opened it enough to take my check to the bank, because my check has cleared. kinda BS that they apparently (from what the lady said) get your money and then get to it when they get to it.

They tell you 90 days because thats standard processing assuming you have no issues that will hold up your application. They will tell you once it is processed and it can take a few weeks after that to get your CWL. There is a timelines thread that shows how long it took many forum members to receive their CWL. Personally, I mailed my app on 2-9 and received my permit on 3-11. I have no clue when they cashed the money order but I was told it was processed 2-28, before that the automated system just told me that my app was received and processing.

Rusty,
It shouldn't take 90 days, most people have a tracking/processing # on their application, I didn't.. After reviewing CWL timelines here and that I was able to check status(Certified mail, Amscot MO) knowing it was received and MO cashed I figured it was time to call.. When I did call I talked to a very nice lady who sounded like she answers this question all the time, I asked her about how long and she promptly gave me my# and I called everyday religiously on my lunch break til the robot finally said it had been approved and mailed, it was in my mailbox when I got home.. I did it the hard way, ink prints with a very new officer, machine was down and I had to write all the info from my original stamped 709.06(included) print form to a new print form and my handwriting s**ks.. Hang in there Buddy, it'll be here in no time!!

alright, so... i called back today to get my application number so i could check it without having to talk to a real person, and she told me it had already been issued! lol it was issued on the 19th. IE the day after i had called and gotten the 90 day notice... so its in the mail, about a month since they cashed my check, so i when i get it in the mail i will post my timeline. im pretty happy with the timeline since i would have just had my appointment (had i gone that route instead of mailing it in) on the 19th. so although it was a pain in the ass, it was still a little bit quicker for me to mail it in so im ok with it :D thanks again guys!

Help Florida CCW waiting

I mailed my packet in on 3/12. Not in system, didn't cash check yet .When I call they tell me they are 4 weeks behind in opening mail. WTF? Thought the state needed money. Any one else having this issue? Crazy thing is I thought this would be faster then waiting a month for appointment which would have been 4/12.

Time still seems unreasonable

You would assume after 6 or 7 weeks they would deposit your payment guaranteed or not. I am wondering if they even have it. My bad for not sending it certified or delivery confirmation. Kinda scary thinking your packet with fingerprints, all personal information and bank info could be lost somewhere. They should have some type of better processing there. Seeing as you send them a nice sum of money for the permit.

When all the mail comes in, like i said, they first check for payment. anyone with personal checks they all put into one pile and bring all the checks to the bank at the end of the week. then after 14 days to make sure they all clear they finally start processing the paperwork. if you send a money order they process all the paperwork right away. so generlly speaking, checks take about 3 weeks longer to get your license then someone who sends a money order. the only other thing that holds up the process is the background check. money and background. as long as they are both good ive seen permits come back after a week and others take almost the full 3 months.

First, welcome to FCC from Palm Beach County, coinman!

However, now since you've now made your first post to FCC without first making the customary introduction, actually a "necro-post" in a 10+ year old thread, no less, please now take the time to educate yourself on how FCC works (see last paragraph below) and then post you're own proper Introduction Thread to FCC letting forum members get to know you a little, of course without getting too personal. You can do that by going to the Introduce Yourself section of The Front Office and start your very own introduction thread. Then you'll find that lots of other FCC members will know to chime in to properly welcome you to the forum, and will be more responsive in answering your questions!

If you're a veteran, take a look at our Military Service Thread where you'll find many of us there, too!

In case you weren't aware, you can stay current on pertinent Florida Statutes regarding use of force and firearms law by going right to the source using these links for Chapter 776 - Justifiable Use of Force and Chapter 790 - Weapons and Firearms. I'd also like to suggest you obtain your own copy of FLORIDA FIREARMS Law, Use & Ownership by Jon Gutmacher!

Also, I highly recommend you read this thread to understand how to navigate FCC to get the most out of your experience. One particular item that's caught many veteran FCC members off guard is the "Recommended Reading" at the bottom of each page, which MAY contain quite old threads of inactive conversations lacking up-to-date information or context. So beware of the date of the last post (just to the right of the post number) in any thread you come across so you don't mistakenly think every post is recent and start responding to very old posts/threads that been dormant for quite some time, sometimes for many years.

Again, welcome to FCC and good luck!

Received my CCW renewal in the mail yesterday. Went online and was surprised to find an opening at the down town Gainesville tax collectors office as early as the 18th for an appointment. Less painful than I anticipated for sure.
